A lot has changed since the Factory dropped
Hey everyone!
My last big post introduced the Factory. Since then, the Art District has grown, profiles have become more useful, and I have added better ways to meet, paint, and look out for one another.
Here are the highlights.
More room to paint
The Art District has grown again, giving you more space to paint and explore in the graffiti simulator. Cross the bridge and you will find new structures, corners, and paintable walls. It is not a separate level, just a natural extension of the district.
While building the new area, I also cleaned up older parts of the map. I fixed places where players could get stuck and changed how the world appears around you as you move through it. That means more walls without asking older phones and computers to handle everything at once.
See who painted what
Painting in the shared world is more transparent now. Anyone can use the painter identifier to point at recent paint and see which player it came from. That makes it much harder to hide bad behavior on a crowded wall. I hope this discourages people from breaking the rules, because what you paint can be traced back to you and serious or repeated abuse can have consequences.
I also streamlined the reporting process around it. Select the paint you are concerned about and that spot is marked in the report, so moderators know exactly where to look. If no painter can be found, you can still send it. The identifier simply adds useful context to the report.
Finding and painting with people
PAINTSESSIONS.COM is built around painting online with other artists, so meeting up should be easy. If a friend is painting somewhere else, you can now invite them to teleport directly to you. They always choose whether to accept, so nobody gets pulled away from a piece unexpectedly.
The in-game player list can now take you straight to somebody’s profile. You can also mute a disruptive player, which hides their chat messages, avatar, nameplate, and invitations for you. I made the list roomier on phones and tablets too, so the extra actions do not get in the way.
A better home for your work
Profiles themselves feel more like personal galleries now. You can feature up to six artworks in a pinned carousel, credit collaborators, and find registered artists in search even if they have never published an artwork before. Empty galleries also explain how to capture a piece from inside the painting world, because that connection was far too easy to miss.
The smaller things matter too
Not every improvement needs a big introduction. Many of the changes since the Factory opened came from watching people paint, reading feedback, and fixing the little frustrations that interrupt a session.
- The color picker remembers recent colors and lets you pin favorites.
- The new NY Fat cap gives you another way to shape a line.
- Busy shared walls are less likely to interrupt your next stroke.
- Controls make better use of the available space on phones and tablets.
- Registration and report problems now come with a useful message.
- Long comments wrap properly across discovery, profiles, and account activity.
More for supporters
Supporters have received plenty of new creative options too. Layers make it easier to build a piece step by step, while private rooms, singleplayer, protected work areas, extra painting controls, and avatar customization give artists more freedom over how and where they create.
Supporter helps keep PAINTSESSIONS.COM independent and open to everyone, and you can find the full overview on the Supporter page.
More to talk about soon
This is still not every recent change. Layers and the newer Supporter tools deserve a closer look of their own, so I will return to them in another post.
The easiest place to share feedback, find collaborators, or report something that does not fit an in-game form is the PAINTSESSIONS.COM Discord.
Thank you to everyone painting, reporting issues, and helping shape the project. See you inside. Peace!
